Maria Krunic (1999) estudou na Royal Carillon School "Jef Denyn", entre 2022 e 2023, com Eddy Marien, onde se graduou com distinção. Além de continuar a aperfeiçoar a sua musicalidade através da aprendizagem de um vasto repertório, pretende também transmitir a centelha do património de carrilhão sérvio, através da investigação histórica e musical relacionada com a sua tese.
Criada em Chicago depois de os seus pais terem emigrado da Sérvia, iniciou a sua educação musical ao piano, tendo tido aulas durante mais de 15 anos. Na universidade, Maria conheceu o carrilhão na Rockefeller Memorial Chapel e adorou ter estudado este instrumento, durante quatro anos, com Joey Brink. Em junho de 2021, passou no exame profissional para a Guilda dos Carrilhanista da América do Norte (GCNA).
Para além disso, licenciou-se em 2021 na Universidade de Chicago, com um diploma de honra em Linguística, juntamente com um bacharelato em Biologia, Química e Estudos Russos e da Europa de Leste. No ano anterior aos seus estudos, em Mechelen, Maria também trabalhou como especialista em investigação num laboratório de Microbiologia. Para além dos seus esforços musicais, é apaixonada por aprender novas línguas, jogar ténis e dançar swing.
Maria Krunic (1999) studied at the Royal Carillon School ‘Jef Denyn’ in 2022-2023 with Eddy Marien, where she graduated magna cum laude. Besides continuing to perfect her musicianship by learning a broad repertoire, she also aims to pass on the spark for Serbian carillon heritage through historical and musical research related to her thesis.
Raised in Chicago after her parents emigrated from Serbia, she began her musical education on piano, taking lessons for over 15 years. In university, Maria was introduced to the carillon at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel and enjoyed studying for four years with Joey Brink. In June 2021, she passed the professional exam for the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA).
In addition, she graduated in 2021 from the University of Chicago with an honors degree in linguistics, along with minors in biology, chemistry, and Russian & East European studies. The year prior to her studies in Mechelen, Maria also worked as a research specialist in a microbiology laboratory. Apart from her musical endeavors, she is passionate about learning new languages, playing tennis, and swing dancing.

The Laura Spelman Rockefeller Memorial Carillon
O Carrilhão Memorial Laura Spelman Rockefeller foi instalado em 1932, pela fundição britânica Gillett & Johnson. É o segundo maior instrumento do mundo, composto por 72 sinos, que totalizam 100 toneladas, e o bordão com 18,5 toneladas. O projeto foi financiado por John D. Rockefeller Jr., que dedicou o carrilhão à sua mãe. O carrilhão foi renovado em 2008 pela fundição Royal Eijsbouts.
The Laura Spelman Rockefeller Memorial Carillon was installed in 1932 by the British foundry, Gillett & Johnson. It is the second largest instrument in the world comprised of 72 bells totaling 100 tons with the bourdon at 18.5 tons. The project was funded by John D. Rockefeller Jr. who dedicated the carillon to his mother. The carillon was renovated in 2008 by Royal Eijsbouts.
